The Sojourner Truth School
for Social Change Leadership
We offer free classes in movement-building skills. We pay our trainers. We site our classes in free or donated spaces in Greenfield, Northampton, Easthampton, Holyoke and Springfield. We are sustained by partner - including many location congregations - grants, and individual donations. Our Fall 2019 semester of classes kicks on on Thursday, September 5th with Restorative Practices Based on Indigenous Values at Second Congregational Church, UCC in Greenfield. As trainer Irene "Strong Oak" Levebvre describes, "Indigenous transformative/restorative practices are based on building healthy communities where conflict is dealt with before violent acts occur." The free Truth School training is to learn some of these restorative practices and their indigenous context.
Our classes suit long time activists and movement participants as well as people may not identify as "activists" but who recognize in themselves a desire to participate in personal and social change for the common good. We help build content knowledge, relationships and skills needed to be agents of that change.
