A group of 8 people from the Peace Dale congregational Church recently took part in the Rhode Island Conference mission trip to Haiti.  In this video, they reflect on their experience.

Speaking Peace

On Saturday, February 2, 2019, more than 65 members of the community gathered at Beneficent Congregational Church UCC, in Providence, Rhode Island, for the first “Speak Peace Symposium” organized by the Justice and Witness Committee. Brenda Westbury, JWC Chairperson introduced the conference theme “Speak Peace,” as a rallying call. The day was filled with outstanding speakers and an amazing homemade pasta lunch made by Chefs Judy and Scott. FundaFest performer Teju Olobongi from Minnesota enlightened the crowd with his drumming and chants of peace and resiliency spoken in many languages throughout our world.

Ever Flowing Streams – its name inspired by Amos - is a Massachusetts Conference e-newsletter focused on justice and witness concerns. Since 2009, EFS has been delivered monthly to the in-boxes of the more than 1,500 people signed on to learn more about these issues. I am honored to be its editor.

I was delighted to hear that a TA1 group, meeting in December to talk about the future of our justice ministry, felt that EFS should transition into a tri-conference publication in 2019.

Shine- Youth at Synod 2019

The UCC General Synod will take place in Milwaukee, WI, June 21 - 25, 2019 and the Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut Conferences are collaborating to sponsor a trip there.

Youth at Synod is for young leaders ages 13 to 18 who want to experience the vibrant diversity of the wider church.

A sweet fundraiser to benefit Outdoor Ministry at Irons Homestead. Delicious hot maple syrup is poured over snow to create an instant candy. Served with dill pickles, plain doughnuts, deviled eggs and a variety of drinks. $5 adults; $3 children under 12.
