CROP Walk 2018

It was a perfect day for a walk in the country and our hosts in Leyden were most gracious -- and 13 of our Association churches participated in this year's Franklin County CROP walk to Stop Hunger Now!!! Attached is a picture of our Franklin Association "crew" -- which included 70 human and at least 5 canine "walkers" -- we don't know the final total raised -- but when we do, we will pass it along -- it was great to see so many walkers of all ages coming together for such a great cause. Thanks to David Neil for taking the photo - please feel free to use this in your newsletter or for your church's Missions Bulletin Board, etc.

The United Congregational Church of Holyoke will be honoring veterans with a screening of The Draft on Thursday, November 8^th at 5:30 pm as part of its monthly “Pizza, Film and Talk” series. The Draft is an award-winning multimedia documentary play based on the book Called to Serve, which explores the tumult of the Vietnam era through the real-life stories of ten young Americans whose lives were forever changed by the military draft. A service and dinner for those who’ve served. The United Congregational Church of Holyoke will be honoring veterans with a special worship service and pork dinner on Sunday, November 11^th. The Sunday Worship will begin at 10 am and feature special music, a flower ceremony for fallen comrades, a message by Called to Serve author Tom Weiner, and a ringing of the bell at 11 am. A pork dinner will be served at 11:15 am and will be free for Veterans. Click here for more information.

Journey; a social and support group for people of all ages who identify as trans, gender queer, or two spirit will meet on the third Thursday of the month, 6-7:30 PM; Sept. 21st, Oct. 19th, Nov. 16th, and Dec. 21, 2017 at the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence(USNF) 220 Main St.,Northampton, MA 01060. Allies, significant others, family, and friends are welcome too. Use the side entrance, and doorbell if needed, to be let in. We meet in a conference room downstairs. The group is free.
